Eating and Drinking

From fine dining to pizza, Thai food to burgers, the Blue Mountains’ culinary scene caters to most tastes. After breakfast at Potbelly Cafe (just a 10 minute walk from the house) enjoy high tea with views to die for at the Hydro and then why not grab some delicious comfort food from Wayzgoose Diner for lunch? An afternoon exploring the Megalong Valley wouldn’t be complete without tea and scones at the Megalong Valley Tea Rooms. For dinner why not try Pins on Lurline for modern Australian cuisine or for a family friendly spot in a great location with a fantastic menu check out The Bunker Cafe in Leura.

There’s a wide choice of local cafes and bakeries in the surrounding townships - most with great coffee on offer. Here are a few of our favourites:

    A 5-10 minute stroll from the house with great coffee, breakfast and lunch options

  • BLACKHEATH DELI (32 Govetts Leap Rd, Blackheath);

    Fresh gourmet sandwiches & Coffee as well as a great selection of local and international meats and cheese.

  • SORENSEN’S GLASSHOUSE & GARDENS (8 Herbert St, Leura);

    Take in the beautiful gardens and surrounds whilst enjoying a pastry

  • CAFE LEURA (180 Leura Mall, Leura);

    A great family run cafe in the centre of beautiful Leura with great options

  • MEGALONG VALLEY TEA ROOMS (824 Megalong Rd, Megalong Valley);

    Definitely worth the 20 minute drive for the scones and jam alone

  • THE YELLOW DELI (214 Katoomba St, Katoomba);

    A quirky spot for great food and coffee - a fun environment for kids too!

Just as we’re spoiled for breakfast choices the same can be said for Lunch and Dinner too. All of the breakfast spots also do lunch but in addition check out:

    A great family friendly restaurant set in a beautiful location

  • ATES (33 Govett’s Leap Rd, Blackheath);

    Set in the heart of Blackheath, Ates is a restaurant & wine bar with a focus on Mediterranean share plates from the 150 year old ironbark-fuelled oven.

  • WAYZGOOSE DINER (174 Leura Mall, Leura);

    All of their food from scratch in their kitchen, with locally sourced fresh ingredients, like meat from the local Butcher next door!

  • BOWERY (56-64 Waratah St, Katoomba);

    Housed inside the historic St Andrew’s church, BOWERY is sure to please everyone, whether it be sharing an intimate dinner, catching up with friends at the large communal tables, or dining al fresco under colourful umbrellas in the leafy courtyard.

  • ZOE’S (35 Govett’s Leap Rd, Blackheat)';

    Mexican restaurant, cocktail bar and live music - a lot of fun with delicious, fresh food (we recommend trying Zoe’s Margarita)

    A newcomer to the gourmet scene with a great wine list - great for a special occasion

    Definitely the destination for a drink with a view (and you can walk home too!)

High Tea

Looking to spoil yourself, why not book yourself in for some high tea:

    Stunning location in a beautiful building - best in the mountains. Booking highly recommended.

  • AVALON (18 Katoomba Street, Katoomba);

    Located in an old, retro converted theatre, you won’t be disappointed with the options on offer here - very centrally located.

  • HYDRO MAJESTIC (52-88 Great Western Highway, Medlow Bath);

    Located only a short 15 minute walk from the house the views from the Hydro are second to none - a perfect spot to spend an afternoon sipping champagne and enjoying a canape or two!
